TARGET 121931
A CORVETTE V8 KITCHEN BLENDER
![]()
The Corvette V8 BlenderThe British television show, Top Gear is known for its zany car stunts. In one episode, the host, Jeremy Clarkson laments that nobody is making V8 cars any more. Therefore, all those old V8 engines need to be used for something, so why not use them around the house? As an example of a good use for a high-torque V8, he presents the V8 kitchen blender.
The picture above shows his recycled gadgetry in its entirety. Sitting on the far left of the table is the bottom half of the silver blending chamber. To the right of that is its top cover, followed by the ingredients of the drink he is going to make for the other guys.
To the right of the cabinetry is the V8 engine from a Ford Corvette, and on the right side is a raised board containing the ignition switch and starter button. On the floor below, is the gas pedal.
Ah, the ingenuity of a man with his car.
As a demonstration of his talent for gadgetry, Jeremy is going to use the blender to make a healthy drink for his co-hosts.

Every manly drink should contain some protein, so Jeremy adds some steak - bones and all.
After all, calcium is good for you, too.

In order to make the drink more palatable, he adds a good amount of Bovril.NOTE: For those who don't know what Bovril is, it is a salty, meat-based compound that is used in cooking, much like beef bullion. Or, when it is mixed with water or milk, can be made into a drink, reported to be very healthy for you - the taste is never mentioned in those reports. It can also be used on bread or crackers as a spread, much like Vegamite (which, to me, personally, has a taste much like the smell of mold-rotted gym socks).

And just to make the drink a little more manly, a dash (actually full bottle) of Tabasco Sauce.NOTE: For those who don't know what Tabasco Sauce is, it is a very hot (picante) sauce made from several of the hottest kinds of peppers. Normally, a few drops are enough to turn a plate of food into a very hot meal.

And for some reason, known only to the burliest, most macho of men, the drink requires
the addition of a brick. Co-hosts Richard Hammond and Jason Dawe watch the drink being made.

Jeremy then secures the lid of the blender,
![]()
moves to the starter panel,
![]()
and, always the safety-minded show host, puts on his hearing protection,
![]()
and starts the engine, which has no muffler system, so just about deafens
everyone in the studio.
![]()
There is a small vibration problem, causing ingredients to bounce up and down and fall
off the cabinet. Jeremy shouts explanations to the others who have their fingers
in their ears and cannot hear a word he is screaming at them.
![]()
But the end result, a manly looking smoothie, is well worth the effort.
![]()
Jeremy serves up the drink for the others.
![]()
Jason Dawe takes the first sip
![]()
and provides his critique.
![]()
Richard Hammond tries a gulp.

Unbelievable!!
Well, the drink may not have been a success, but you have to agree that the idea was a good one.........don't you?
The entire skit is viewable in the following video (4 minutes 45 seconds long)
The television program was filmed in London, England.
